The natural ecosystems in Tanzania are in danger, and the people who live there are suffering. For a long time, the indigenous peoples and local communities have used their knowledge of nature to take care of the land and use it wisely. Their culture helps them to regenerate the land between seasons and to have enough grass and water for their animals all year round.
Now the situation has changed. The land is divided into small villages, and there are many conflicts over how to use and manage it. More people, less available land, and changing weather have damaged the grasslands. There is also confusion about who is in charge of the land and how to make decisions. This results in many animals dying during the dry season or when there is a drought because there is not enough grass and water for them.
